Good news guys after a very productive meeting with Archie McNeillie (Forestry's recreational officer) and after supplying all the relevant paperwork insurance and risk assessment as well as general information on our club and Airsoft we can now expand our borders. After ironing out one or two minor details we should have access to nearly all of Galloway Forest District this includes well over two thirds of Galloway Forest Park and nearer to home Ringdo Point an area that most of us are familiar with.
Archie will be meeting with us next Wed morning the 2nd at Ringdo Point to have a look at and discuss access to the land for ourselves to use for game days.
Well, its now up to us as a club to show Archie and the Forestry that we can be trusted to respect the countryside we will be granted access to as well as any restrictions, rules or regulations they place upon us.If we need vehicles to get to areas within the forests or woods keys can be supplied to normally restricted access(roads or tracks that are normally only used by the Forestry themselves). If we do want to use cars to travel beyond these locked gates we must supply them with the make, model, colour, reg and a copy of the insurance details of the vehicles to be used
So men what we need to do now is find (WITHIN FORESTRY LAND) good possible sites for skirmishing and where possible as far from the popular public areas as possible so the further off the beaten track the better. Then I will contact Archie with details of the area we wish to use he will then check the database to see if any works are planned for the date supplied or if any of the armed forces are using it (seemingly they use the Forest Park quite a lot) and he will then let the relevant people on his side know what where and when.
What an opportunity eh
Oh and any questions fire away

great work coli!!! our sport has taken a few knocks recently but this year seems to be onwards and upwards for TBT!! i think it will be great trying out some new terrain and if we have almost free run over the whole of the new galloway forest then the scope and range of games we could organize is bottomless!! plus it puts our club a wee bit more firmly on the map in the grand scale of things!
i can feel some recon comin on!!!
